1. Lottery and competition scam begins with an unexpected notification -'you have won something substantial', over the telephone, by email, through the post or in an online game. 2. The telephone number or email account is similar to, even same as the official one. Scammers use some machines or softwares to perform these tricks. 3. In some cases, you receive a fake check first. 4. Then, the scammers ask you to pay some small upfront fee, such as insurance, processing, shipping fee. 5. Once you send them the fee, you are asked to send a new fee. 6. No matter how much fee you've sent to them, you will get nothing eventually.
